Operation
Train Control Operation
1. Supervising & regulating the movement of trains from station/cabin to station /cabin.
2. Monitoring movement of trains from station to station and recording paths and detention on charts
3. Giving time signal to all stations on the section daily at the appointed time
4. Arranging proper movement of assisting/banking /light engines.
5. Arranging Engineering and/or power blocks in such a way as to involve minimum disturbance to train running.
Traffic Control Operation
1. Collecting information from the various stations on the section
2. Arranging running, regulation, putting back and cancellation of trains. (both freight & coaching.)
3. Collecting stock position from the different stations, marshaling and terminal yards.
4. Monitoring and coordinating working of yards, goods sheds sidings, loco-shed, TXR depots etc.
5. Supervising of stock control.
6. Arranging supply of wagons against pending registration.
Power Control Operation
1. Requisitioning engines from loco sheds for all operating requirements, i.e. Train working,shunting & banking.
2. Ensuring most economical use of engines by close supervision both in Traffic Yards and shed
3. Ensuring an even balance of engines and crews between running sheds for meeting demands & traffic.
4. Ensuring that light engine kilometers is kept to the minimum.
Carriage and wagon Control
1. Ensure timely examination and fitness of all trains
2. To keep a watch over the detachment of sick wagons/coaches and to arrange for their early repair and fitness.
3. To keep a watch over the placement of wagons/coaches in sick line and their release
4. To keep account of detention to trains on C&W account and take remedial action
5. Monitor the movement of POH due stock to workshops
Commerical Control Operation
1. To expeditiously dispose off unclaimed and unconnected wagons, parcel consignments.
2. To keep a watch on detention to trains on Commercial account like Alarm Chain Pulling. Carriage watering, Parcel working etc., and take remedial measures.
3. To ensure quick transshipment of sick wagons by arranging matching stock and labor.
4. Monitoring of public complaints lodged at the stations.
5. Monitoring of public complaints lodged at the stations.
Traction Power Control Operation
1. Arranging maintenance blocks for OHE
2. Arranging alternative power supply in case of tripping etc., through remote control
3. Monitoring OHE failures and taking remedial action.
4. Monitoring detention of trains on OHE accounts.
Engineering Control Operation
1. Monitors imposition & cancellation of Engineering Restrictions, Working of track machines & monitoring integrated maintainable blocks.
2. To co-ordinate works during maintenance blocks
3. Running of Material trains.
Signal Control Operation
1. To keep a watch over the S&T failures and take remedial action.
2. To ensure efficient working of communication channel.
Function Control Operation
1. Continuous supervision of the movement of all traffic in the controlled area with a view to achieve the maximum possible operating efficiency
2. Systematic maintenance of accurate charts of train movements and the arrangements of crossing and precedence to the greatest advantage
3. Analysis of detentions to trains
4. Planning, ordering and running of goods trains to the best possible paths.
5. Maintaining the fluidity of marshalling yards/freight terminals.
Maintenance
Maintenance of Relay Room & its equipment
1. Cleanness of relay rack and cable termination rack.
2. Proper plugging, clipping, bolting and sealing of relays
3. Proper tightening of cable terminals on racks
4. Maintainance of Power supply & batteries to get rated voltage
5. Ensure nomenclature is correctly done whenever any relay is replaced
6. Check all cable channel are closed.
Maintenance of Operation cum indication Panel
1. Ensuring that the panel is free of dust.
2. Ensure that the inside terminations are in tight condition.
3. Ensure that the body of the panel is properly earthed.
4. Ensure that all push buttons are working properly
5. Ensure the buzzer is in healthy condition.
6. Ensure all indications are glowing in healthy condition.
Maintenance of Signaling Cables
1. Ensure the cables in relay room,goomty, and location boxes and properly clamped and the clamp is intact.
2. Armored of the cables should be properly soldered to catenary and catenary should be earthed.
3. Insulation resistance testing of cables.
4. Cables are laid in ducts, it is to be ensured that the covers on the ducts are intact and in good condition and water is not collecting inside.
Maintenace of Location Box
1. Ensuring that the location fixing Nut and bolts are intact and tight
2. Cables provided in the locations are properly clamped and dressed
3. Check that the armor of the cables are soldered and earthed properly
4. Ensuring proper rating of fuse provided different controlling circuit.
5. Ensure the battery provided inside the location are clean and parameters are with in range.
6. Ensure that proper locking is provided for the location box and is effective
Maintenance of Signal
1. Lenses, glasses, and lamps shall be kept clean
2. Housing shall be kept clean and opening in inclement or stormy weather avoided.
3. The condition of the gasket shall be checked to ensure that rainwater does not have access to the interior of the lamp unit
4. The aspect be properly seated and contact springs have adequate tension
5. The signal post plumbing and focusing shall be checked and adjusted Periodically.
6. Ensure all electrical parameters should be within the range.
Maintenance of Electrical Point Machine
1. Cleanliness:- machines shall be kept in good condition free from rust, dust and dirt.
2. Lubrication:- all gearing and bearing shall be properly lubricated according to manufacturer instruction.
3. Motor and its equipment should be kept clean.
4. Obstruction test should be conducted frequently.
5. Electrical parameters should be with the specified range.
Maintenance of Electrical Lifting Barrier
1. Ensure the smooth operation of the barrier.
2. Clean the inside & outside of mechanism, boom & channels, and hand generator.
3. Check tightness of all fixing nuts and bolts of the mechanism base, gearbox Motor, boom & counterbalance channels & the adjusting screws of the circuit Controller.
4. Check loose connection of wire at the terminals in the CC9, CC10, CC11, and the motor
5. Check the alignment of the SS rod
6. Check the Nylon Bushes over which the SS Rod Travels
Maintenace of Track Circuit
1. Proper Connection between power feed and track, relay and track and also adjoining rails through jumpers.
2. The healthiness of Track relay.
3. The ballast resistance always remains high and does not fall below the prescribed min value.
4. The insulating joints are of high resistance.
5. The surface of rail is clean and is free of dust, sand and foreign materials
6. Ensure the healthiness and cleanness of Track Battery and apparatus.
7. Minimum ballast resistance per km. of track should be less than 2 ohm per km. in station yard and 4 ohms per km. in the block section.
Maintenance of Axel Counters
1. Check all nuts and bolts of base clamps, receiver and transmitter housing and ensure they are fully tight
2. Check the ‘staggering’ of the rail inductors. Check staggering has not been affected by excessive rail creep.
3. Observe the packing condition of supporting sleepers and ensure the fittings do
not vibrate heavily during the passage of trains. if necessary, get the sleepers packed well.
4. Inspect all connection on the oscillator/amplifier unit and ensure they are tight Check the screw coupler on the oscillator/receiver amplifier unit and ensure they fully tight.
5. Measure the amplifier output voltage of both channels and ensure it is neither too low nor too high.
6. Quarterly inspection of the outdoor equipment and Evaluate unit.
7. Carry out a visual inspection of Trackside equipment i.e EAK, rail contacts and internal cables.
8. Measure the electrical parameters specified with in the range.
9. Ensure Various modules are inserted properly to their respective mother board.
Maintenance of Relay
1. Movement of armature and contact carriage.
2. Pitting or charring of contact.
3. Dust accumulation on contact.
4. Corrosion, rusting of components
5. Presence of fungus and ants inside the relay casing
6. Corrosion of label
7. Overhauling.
Maintenance of IPS ( Intrigated Power Supply) System
1. Remove all the dust and clean the interior housing. Remove any foreign body from inside the cabinet.
2. Check that all screws and nuts are firmly tightened
3. Ensure all the electrical wirings and connections.
4. Ensure all the Electrical parameters with in its specified range.
5. Check the healthiness of Class A,B,C Surge Arresters.
6. All cabinet should be properly Earthed.
Maintenance of Battery Banks
1. Cleaning of all cells near its terminals
2. Clean all cells around top cover and terminals periodically
3. Apply petroleum jelly over the terminals
4. Periodically record all cell voltages and specific gravities
5. Periodically checking of electrolyte levels of cells
6. Periodically recording of all cell voltages with Battery charger switched Off
7. Earthing should be properly connected to the Battery Bank.
Maintenance of Electronic Interlocking system
1. Weekly Maintenance of Measurement of Electrical Parameters.
2. Periodic Fuse Checking
3. Data Backup
4. Monthly System changeover
5. Measurement of Earth Resistance Value.
6. All Cardfiles and all associated peripheral equipment should be periodically inspected for signs of system degradation.
